Cold Weather Calls for Cute Outfits… and Starbucks

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Coastal Carolina chapter.

It’s literally “shiver me timbers” weather outside. I’m too little to brace this cold by itself, so that’s why I like to dress warm. Cold weather also calls shopping for cute outfits because why not? Also, there are holiday drinks now and the toasted white mocha (with soy milk) is to die for.

I should probably also admit that I don’t have any style. So bare with me on my list of favorite articles of clothing.

Sherpas

I got a sherpa from PINK for like an arm and a leg but if you’re not trying to sell your soul, Walmart has a larger and much cheaper variety of them. Getting a sherpa is the best purchase ever if you’re cold 99.9% of the time like I am. I usually pair my sherpa with a cute pair of ripped jeans (which defeats the purpose of being warm) and maybe a pair of vans or black uggs.

Uggs

Speaking of uggs, or what everyone calls “moon boots”, they’re like my favorite type of shoe. One because they’re pretty durable if you take care of them properly and don’t wear them in the snow (UGGS are NOT meant for the snow). I’ve had the same pair of UGGS for over 4 years now, and they’re just starting to tear a little in the front. I honestly wear my uggs with jeans, sweatpants and leggings. They go great with anything. They also keep everything that’s a little past my ankle really warm too. I love having warm ankles.

Hoodies

Hoodies are everyone’s best friend. You can’t go wrong with a hoodie. Hoodies give me so much freedom because I don’t wear bras anymore, even if it’s cold outside, and if my hoodie is big enough, which they always are, I can just hang loose. Literally. I also like to pretend I’m a turtle and shrink into my hoodie when I don’t want to be bothered. It’s the best feature of wearing one. Hoodies also go great with everything, so pair it with whatever.

Leggings

Now most people would probably regard leggings as non cold weather material. However, the colder it gets, the more comfortable I like to be. Something about being cozy and comfortable in my clothes makes me feel like I’m still in my bed, and that’s like my favorite place to be. I have tons of leggings, most of them black and I wear a pair at least once a week. Now that it’s getting colder, just call me Kira Leggings Lloyd (actually don’t do that because I’ll probably look at you confused and my confused face also looks like an angry face lol).

I know most of my favorite articles of clothing are basic, but hey, I’m basic. They’re also what I wear 99.9% of the time so I might as well “put you on” as the kids say these days.
