The Social Media App You Didn’t Know You Needed

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CNU chapter.

College summers are long. For some people, like myself, those four months can drag on and you might be left in a search for new hobbies or ways to fill your time. This summer I found the greatest time waster and form of entertainment, and it must be shared.

Ladies … YOU. NEED. TIKTOK.

I know what you might be thinking … isn’t that the app full of young teenagers making potentially cringey lip syncing videos? While TikTok was in the past an app called Musical.ly where this was the content being created, TikTok is now a platform full of hilarious videos. I would even dare to say that it is basically Vine part two.

I was skeptical at first, I must admit. But, TikTok quickly became my favorite source of entertainment. Netflix … we don’t know her anymore. Whenever I am bored and in need of entertainment, I will go onto TikTok for HOURS. And for the majority of that time, I will be laughing out loud. It is so incredibly funny. (Not to mention … the people on TikTok are all so attractive, and who doesn’t love some eye candy?!)

TikToks are not just for watching … they’re honestly fun to make, too. Throughout the summer, I roped many of my friends into making silly videos with me, whether we were doing dance routines or comedy videos or anything else goofy. Now that I am back at college living in a dorm, I have found that making these silly videos, whether it is by myself or with friends, is SO fun!

I understand … you may still be skeptical. It might take some time to accept the fact that there is another app out there that can provide content as entertaining as the iconic Vine. However, the next time you’re procrastinating doing your homework or sitting around feeling bored with your roommates … it’s time to give TikTok a try.
