It’s spooky season!! Time for pumpkin spice everything, horror movies, and (finally) cool weather. My suitemates and I have established a steady movie night tradition – we will watch a movie in their room at least once a week, whether it be a chick-flick or a scary movie.
In honor of spooky season, I’d like to share a list of my favorite Halloween movies of all time. Maybe I’ll wait until Valentine’s (ahem, Galentine’s) Day to rank the chick-flicks…
10. Twitches
It may be corny, but it’s a classic! The first movie is the way to go.
9. Jigsaw
This one will really psych you out, but if you’re squeamish, have a barf bag nearby…
8. IT
Okay, I have to be honest – I haven’t seen this. But, the trailers I saw were enough to spook me, and the hype is insane, so I know it deserves a spot on the list!!
7. A Quiet Place
This is one of the only scary movies I’ve actually seen in theaters. It’s more of a suspenseful thriller than a scary movie, but nonetheless, it is great…just try not to cry over Jim Halpert…
6. Practical Magic
This isn’t exclusively a Halloween movie, but it could certainly be considered as such. And who doesn’t love Sandra Bullock?
5. Halloweentown
Another wonderful classic! Is it even Halloween if you don’t watch Halloweentown? No, it isn’t.
4. The 6th Sense
“I see dead people.”
3. It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown
If you haven’t seen this, you had no childhood.
2. Hocus Pocus
Hocus Pocus is to Halloween as Elf is to Christmas!
1. The Shining
This movie sets the standard for all scary movies, it is a classic. Can any other movie take the number one spot on this list? I think not!
