Dear little sister,

You’ve finally made it to the best year of your high school career, senior year. It seems like just yesterday we were playing dolls and dress up, and now I am in my second year of college and you are just beginning your journey for the future – where has the time gone? This year may seem pretty intimidating and full of new challenges, but that’s what older sisters are for, right? To help you through the times when you just need a little bit of big sister wisdom. So, here are some tips to get you through your last year of high school.

Stay positive. This year will be full of ups and downs, firsts and lasts, but just remember to keep an open and positive mind.  When it feels like the craziness of senior year is getting to be too much, just remember you’ve got this!

Enjoy it. Senior pictures, football games, homecoming, prom, graduation, making memories with friends… get excited for all of it. This will be a year filled with firsts, like applying to college, and filled with lasts, like homecoming and prom, but enjoy all of it and live in the moment. Go to all of the football games, join that club you’ve been thinking about joining. It’s the last year, so make the most of it.

Avoid stress. Taking on a million AP classes, applying to college, and being involved can get stressful at times, and coffee may become your best friend.  It’s okay to take a break (aka binge watch Netflix) when you’re feeling a little overwhelmed. While it’s important to keep your grades up, you’re not going to remember the hours upon hours of studying, you’re going to remember the lasting memories you made with friends. Don’t let the stresses of senior year get to you, make it a fun year!

Get excited for the future. This year is just the beginning of an exciting future. Have fun in the college search process and get excited for all that your college years and beyond have in store for you. While it will be hard at first to say goodbye to the past four years, hold on to all of the great memories and just know that the best years are yet to come.

I hope you find these tips useful for your senior year, and that when graduation day comes you can say that you made the most of the past four years. I want you to know that I’m a proud of all that you have accomplished and can’t wait to see what you accomplish senior year and beyond.

Love,

Your Big Sister
