This is the first article in a new series where I review local restaurants around CNU! Join me as I have fun trying new food in good company. I’ll be experimenting with the sections, and I promise there will be pictures next time! Without further ado…

Cue cool intro music here!

What’s on Joey’s Plate 🍽️ today?

Smoke BBQ Restaurant & Bar is the place we’re visiting today. A classic American restaurant, featuring plenty of BBQ and smoked options.

When my friend and I visited, there was a trivia game going on. It was pleasantly lively. We spectated from afar, but there was a good crowd going and playing. The two of us played We’re Not Really Strangers instead, and we caught up since it had been a while since the two of us had spent any time together.

For what I ordered, I chose Country Roped Sausage entree. The entrees come with two sides, so I choose the Southwest Potato Salad and Mac & Cheese.

Everything tasted pretty good! Good, comforting food. The sausage had a good depth of flavor and came with grilled onions and peppers. The potato salad was creamy and chunky, which I appreciated, and also had some celery that brought a nice extra crunch to the salad. The Mac and Cheese was delightful as well, and certainly felt home-made.

My friend got the beef brisket and wings, and he ate all of it real fast, so I take that as him enjoying his food!

The service was good as well! After a while, we were really just enjoying our time and I think our server didn’t realize when we had finished eating, so we ended up waving them down after a while. Our experience was skill pretty good either way!

Plate Rating: 🍽️🍽️🍽️🍽️🍴 (4.5/5 Plates!)

Tasty Tip: They have hot sauce, also! I asked for some to have with my food, which I am grateful for.
