Delicious Snacks and Candy to Gift Your Vegan Valentine

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CNU chapter.

Are you in a relationship with someone who’s vegan and aren’t sure what kinds of sweets you can get them this Valentine’s Day? No worries, you’re not alone! It can definitely be an adjustment having to always take this into consideration now, but once you get the hang of it it’ll be like second nature to you.

No, you don’t need to gift your vegan Valentine a bunch of fruit–unless of course that’s what they want. There are actually a lot of “accidentally” vegan candies out there—meaning they aren’t marketed as vegan but the ingredients in them still happen to be vegan friendly! You’d be surprised at how many of your favorite candies are actually suitable for vegans, too. If you’re stumped on what to buy your vegan Valentine, check out this list!

Airheads

This yummy, tangy stick of goodness will make any vegan’s day!

Oreos

YES, these are vegan! And even better–EVERY FLAVOR is vegan friendly! So, if you happen to find a really cool unique flavor, lik carrot cake or red velvet, pick up a pack and you and your vegan sweetheart can try them together!

Nutter Butters

If your vegan Valentine loves peanut butter, which honestly most vegans usually do because it’s loaded with protein and adds a great flavor to just about anything, this is definitely a go-to!

Sour Patch Kids

This candy is perfect for anyone who loves sweets but also craves that sour flavor. All the different versions of Sour Patch Kids are vegan, so feel free to grab any you find!

Skittles

Tasting the Rainbow has never been so delicious. If you’re still not quite sure what candy your vegan Valentine likes, you definitely can’t go wrong with Skittles.

Twizzlers and Red Vines

Is your Valentine team Twizzlers or Red Vines? Not sure? Get them both! These competitors are both vegan friendly and super delish!

Bark Thins

The ultimate “accidentally” vegan chocolate, in my opinion. Bark Thins come in a few different flavors–all vegan–such as pretzel, coconut, almond, peppermint, gingerbread, pumpkin seed, peanut!

Swedish Fish

Again, you can’t really go wrong with these. If you’re still getting to know your Valentine and aren’t sure what their faves are yet, consider getting them this classic!

Nerds

Yes, these are vegan too! Get your Valentine the cool ual pack with the two different flavors to really win over their heart.

Unfrosted Poptarts

Unfortunately, the frosted Poptarts are not vegan since they contain gelatin, a protein extracted from pork bone marrow. But, the unfrosted ones are! And they’re just as delish without the cruelty! Your vegan Valentine will love this yummy and versatile snack.

Fruit by the Foot

This classic, delicious string of goodness is the perfect snack for anyone.

belVita Breakfast Biscuits

These biscuits are the PERFECT snack for any vegan on the go. They’re perfect for breakfast, lunch, and to satisfy the sweet tooth.

Pringles: Original, Barbeque, Salt & Vinegar, Tangy Buffalo Wing

We know that not all vegans love sweets–many prefer salty and savory snacks, instead. If this describes your Valentine, try going for one of these options.

Takis

These chips are a MUST for anyone that loves spicy chips. It will change your world.

Original Fritos

Another classic. Though they look like a plain old corn chip from the outside, the delicious flavor says otherwise.

Kettle Brand Chips: Original, Sea Salt & Vinegar, BBQ, Dill Pickle, Jalapeno, Salt & Fresh Ground Pepper

All these flavors are absolutely mouthwatering. If anything, I would recommend these chips over all the others.

Lays: Original, BBQ, Limon, Dill Pickle, Salt & Vinegar, Salt & Pepper

Again, another classic. Can’t go wrong with the old Lays chips.

Ruffles: Original, All Dressed

Ruffles are amazing. If you’re gonna go for just a plain original flavor chip, go for Ruffles or Kettle Brand!

Snyder’s Pretzel Pieces: Hot Buffalo Wing, Jalapeno

I discovered these gems by chance a few years back when I first became vegan. I’m telling you, I never went back. If your vegan Valentine loves all things spicy, get them one–or both–of these mouthwatering flavors.

Hummus & Pretzel To-Go Packets

These to-go packets are perfect for any busy vegan on the run. Almost all vegans love hummus–it’s like an unspoken rule, so you can’t go wrong with this.

Sweet Spicy Chili Doritos

The only Doritos that actually are vegan. But, they’re so yummy and have such a unique flavor! These are great for someone who likes a bit of spicy but can’t handle anything overwhelming. It’s a good mix of spicy and sweet.

I hope this list helped! I know it can sound overwhelming trying to shop for your vegan sweetheart, but trust me it’s not bad at all. You’ll get the hang of it soon enough and will eventually have your own encyclopedia stashed in your mind of the perfect vegan snacks to gift your vegan Valentine! Good luck shopping, and Happy Valentine’s Day!
