The past couple of years have been tough, but recently I’ve been seeing many people get back on their feet and finding themselves a new norm today, myself included. One of my resolutions for 2023 has been about self-love and learning to appreciate myself but the also the little things in life. Here is a list of some of my favorite things, habits, and passions that I’ve brought into 2023 with me.

Morning tea.

My Bose headphones [specifically the QC45].

If you’re like me— maintaining a noisy and busy work-school life in an equally noisy and busy household— these babies have been amazing for when I really need to grind out a study session or simply enjoy a new show without distractions.

Calls with my sister.

Home-cooked meals.

When the setting sun in the sky looks like a newly opened box of swirled sherbert.

Dark chocolate peanut butter cups.

Learning my mother tongue.

Since moving back home, I’ve been wanting to develop a better relationships with my grandparents, and one way has been to learn my mother language. My family is from the Fujian province in China, where the languages Min (i.e. Fuzhounese, Northern Min, Pu-Xian Min, Hokkien, to name a few), Mandarin, She, and Hakka are spoken. My family is specifically from Fuzhou, where Fuzhounese is commonly spoken. It’s been a awhile, and I do have the common American accent when speaking, but it’s brought me pretty close to my grandparents now.

Watercolor painting.

My tocobo cotton sun stick.

Suncare is vital item to your daily routine. Even if you’re not the type to want to put on makeup, at least include sunscreen, as it’s best to prevent sunburns and skin cancer.

Casually driving around town on an early morning while running errands.

My dogs (obvious choice).

Getting back into reading.
