The Pittsburgh weather has been a bit less than cheery lately, so I was on the lookout for a cute spring design with the hopes that changing my nails might make the sun come out (I wish!).  I found this design from Nailed It and fell in love with it.  With spring just around the corner, this design is the perfect way to dig out those pretty colorful polishes and officially welcome the new season!

What you’ll need:

– Nail polish: a base coat, and colors for the flowers: purple, yellow, and white.  I used American Apparel in “Office,” Revlon in “Vintage” and “White on White,” and Sinful Colors in “Unicorn.”

– A dotting tool

– A small, thin brush (optional)

How to do it:

1) Paint on your base color. For my tips on getting a great base, look here.

2) Use the dotting tool to put two large dots of your purple on each nail. Let it dry.

3) Put four white dots in an X shape, overlapping slightly with the purple dots you’ve already made, with your dotting tool.  You may need to go over them a couple times if the purple is showing through.

4) With your thin brush or dotting tool, make small stripes with your purple at the center of the white dots.

5) Place a yellow dot over the purple stripes.  Again, you may need to go over it again once or twice.

Let it dry and seal it in with your topcoat. Happy spring!
