Kirti Thapar is a Senior Psychology major, and is the coordinator for Take A Student To Eat, or TASTE. Offered by CMU’s Office of Undergraduate Admissions, TASTE allows prospective students to get, well, a taste of our school.
Kirti got involved with TASTE through her work as an Andrew Ambassador, or tour guide, with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
What is TASTE?
TASTE is the Take A Student To Eat program. It is a program offered every weekday of April at both 12 and 12:30, in which prospective students can be taken to lunch around campus by current students. These prospective students are already admitted students, who want to get a student perspective of Carnegie Mellon!
How is the program beneficial for potential students?
The program is fantastic for potential students because it allows them to get one-on-one time with real current students. They get to learn what current students have to say about how they find CMU. They can discuss extra-curricular activities, dorm life, ins and outs of dealing with academics, and all the aspects of actually being a student at Carnegie Mellon that a prospective student needs to know. It lets the prospective student ask real life questions without the pressure of parents being around, and it allows current students to give their honest opinions about life here at CMU. It also is good for current students because they get to meet people who may be at CMU next year. And they can get a free meal card for campus!
