Five Spring Break Destinations to Escape the Snow

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at CMU chapter.

The snow is piling up in Pittsburgh, and that only means one thing… time to start daydreaming about a spring break getaway. Here are five dream spring break vacays to distract from the freezing temperature and icy sidewalks.

1. Atlantis, Paradise Island, Bahamas

If you’re looking for fun, action packed trip look no further than the Atlantis resort in Paradise Island. With an expansive, 141 acre water park, huge casino, and miles of beach, Atlantis is the adult Disney world of your spring break dreams.

2. Playa del Carmen, Mexico

Playa del Carmen offers a little more adventure and culture than a typical spring break destination. Besides a beautiful beach and warm Caribbean waters, Playa del Carmen offers great snorkeling, ATV adventures, and archaeological ruins. And if you’re willing to travel a little further off the beaten path, you can find deliciously authentic Mexican cuisine and markets where you can haggle your heart out.

3. Panama City Beach, Florida

Panama City Beach is the perfect destination for a typical wild spring break. Each year the beach is packed with college students looking to have fun and forget the stress of midterms, and with concerts, foam parties, and cruises, Panama City is more than equipped to make sure everyone has an unforgettable experience

4. Ocho Rios, Jamaica

For those of you who are looking to avoid the craziness of Panama City, Ocho Rios might be more your style. If you’re up for exploring, there are plenty of beautiful gardens, museums, caves, and waterfalls in the area, but simply laying out on the perfect white beach and melting away the college stress under the Caribbean sun works, too.

5. South Padre Island, TX

Located on the beautiful Gulf Coast, South Padre is perfect for a vacation that balances fun and pure relaxation. South Padre offers flawless beaches, dolphin watching, and Sea Turtle Inc., a rehabilitation center for wounded sea turtles, as well as parasailing, kiteboarding, and Schlitterbahn, a huge water park.
