This Saturday tons of CMU students will flood into Weigand Gym to watch Lunar Gala, the annual student run, designed and modeled fashion show. Last year, design majors Carson Beyl and Alie Brown created a collection entitled Peaches. The now junior duo learned how to sew early on, but didn’t start using sewing machines until much later.   Peaches, named after Carson’s dog, can be characterized by baby-doll dresses, girly pastels, and bows, and was one of the most popular collections last year.
Â
This year, you can expect a lot of change for their collection, Peaches Meets Abraham. For one, they are adding menswear into their collection. The designers say their newest line “will be a mix of last years inspiration with a little bit of our own style thrown in. Also, inspiration from our hometowns (Mars, PA and Lancaster, PA) plays a big role.” Alie also took on a larger role this year and is serving as Deisgn Coordinator for the show.
Â
Carson explains that more than anything else, she loves the creativity and stories behind each of the lines, “I love that you can be inspired by absolutely anything. You can find a way to design a clothing line that can be influenced by something completely outside of the fashion world.” Even though she never thought she’d be interested in fashion design, Carson has loved creating fashion for Lunar Gala.

The show starts at 8pm on Saturday February 5th.Â
