Looking for something to do instead of studying for exams or starting that assignment that you really don’t want to look at? Well, here are my top five TV shows for keeping you busy.

Comedy: The Big Bang Theory

The Big Bang Theory is a great show if you’re ever in need of a quick laugh and at 20 minutes a show it’s a pretty small time commitment. And if you’re ever feeling awkward just take comfort in the fact that you’re not as awkward as Sheldon Cooper.

Drama: The West Wing

This show is either a hit or a miss for most people, but if you’re into political TV shows it might be the one for you. The West Wing follows the presidency of Jed Bartlet and the drama that comes with the day to day proceedings of the White House. Some say its dry but in my opinion it’s one of the most realistic shows I’ve watched that kept me hooked from start to finish.

Reality: Dancing with the Stars

I have a soft spot for reality TV, any reality TV really, but if I had to choose my favorite show it would have to be Dancing with the Stars. One day (if I ever become famous enough) I’d love to be on the show, but for now I’ll sit back and watch Derek Hough and his partner win every season.

Food: Masterchef Junior

Who doesn’t love food? And who doesn’t love watching super talented kids create dishes that you could only dream of eating let alone making? Masterchef Junior manages to combine the excitement of competition, humor and of course an extreme amount of cuteness without being overly redundant.

Shonda Rhimes: Grey’s Anatomy

Shonda Rhimes, being the queen of television, deserved her own category. I would recommend any show on TGIT (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, How to Get Away With Murder), but my favorite is definitely Grey’s Anatomy.  I’ll be the first to admit it’s a bit far fetched at times, but there’s something about the dynamic relationships between Dr. Meredith Grey and the rest of the cast and the shocking twists that keep me going even in its 12th season.

I am currently senior majoring in Business Administration and Statistics with a track in Finance at Carnegie Mellon University. Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, Enid Blyton and J.K Rowling are a few of my favorite authors. I also love watching British TV shows (Sherlock is my favorite!). On campus, I am involved in several activities, including Carnegie Mellon Business Association and Smart Woman Securities.
