Yes, even Carnegie Mellon students occasionally deserve a break in between endless problem sets, DA jobs, and leadership positions. But give Facebook creeping a rest, check out these blogs instead!

  1. Perez Hilton: Your pop culture fix with some added flare. You’ll get the dish on the news straight from Hollywood and bloggers’ opinions to boot. You can also check out CocoPerez for fashion news.
  2. The Wednesday Chef: Just to fuel your appetite a bit. Blogger Luisa Weiss writes cute anecdotes with each recipe and includes gorgeous photos of her dishes.
  3. Deadspin: Sports and humor. Enough said.
  4. Stoollala: When an exotic dancer doubles as a pop-culture blogger, you can’t really expect serious journalism. Jenna Mourney wouldn’t touch serious with a ten-foot pole, but I’d argue she still delivers. She writes a blog called Stoollala that is completely random, completely trashy, and completely entertaining.
  5. Zambrean.com A street photography blog that is updated daily. The blogger is based in Spain and features people, landscapes, and everything in between.
Julianne Grauel is a sophomore Professional Writing major at Carnegie Mellon University and is originally from the California Bay Area. At Carnegie Mellon she is a peer tutor for writing and an active sister in her sorority, Kappa Alpha Theta. This past summer, she interned at Gentry Magazine and hopes to work for a magazine after college. Julianne loves football, sushi, sunshine, and dance parties. She probably consumes far too much Red Mango froyo and can’t get enough of Project Runway. In her free time she likes to travel, watch sports center, take spinning classes and, most of all, shop.
