I Tried Kylie Jenner’s Lip Kit for the First Time

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clemson chapter.

Okay, so I’m a little behind but I finally did it! I tried one of the famous lip kits but socialite sensation, Kylie Jenner. When I first looked at the site, I was astounded. $29 for a lip kit and liner seemed a little too much when I can go to the Ulta in Anderson and get two of each for that price from a much less exclusive brand. But for Black Friday, there some deals and free shipping, so how could I resist? I ordered the lip kit in Leo, a beautiful dark burgundy that would match perfectly with my warm skin tone.

It shipped to my house beautiful little black box with note from Kylie thanking us customers for our support. It also had the receipt and, of course, the box with the lip kit. Although it looked gorgeous, I was more interested in the product itself. So naturally, I ran to my room to try it on immediately. The box, lipstick, and liner are all color-coordinated perfectly so one knows exactly what color is going to come out.

I started with the lip liner. Now, the lip liners I’ve used in the past have been from drugstore brands: cheap, easy to put on, but quick to wear off. This lip liner is on a whole new level. Not only did it apply smoothly, it stayed on all day. It didn’t wear off, didn’t smudge, and didn’t get dry or crack on my lips. I literally had to take it off with my makeup remover that night at 9 pm, which is impressive considering I almost always manage to rub off my lipstick within a couple of hours.

Next came the actual lipstick. I have to say that when I saw the price, I didn’t think it would be worth it. I was wrong. It came on and stayed on. Sure, the color may have faded a little with eating, drinking, whatever. But at the end of the day, my lips were still stained a beautiful red. In addition, that stuff goes on like cream. It’s hard for lips to stay feeling moisturized, especially with matte lipstick on. But with Kylie’s lip kit, I could still smile and talk without feeling as if my lips were going to rip because they were so dry. Not to mention: the color is beautiful and the quality is remarkable.

All in all, it was worth the price, as much as it bothers the miser in me to say it. The formula is great and the color really shows through. The lip liner can be used with other lip products, too, and stays on just as well. It’s no wonder the lip kits sell out every time she releases a new product. This is one Jenner who knows what she’s doing.

(Shoutout to my sister for this color-coordinated pic)
