It’s the most wonderful time of the year again, and if you’re like me, you want to celebrate. One of my favorite ways to get into the holiday spirit when I was younger was to decorate. I would cover the whole house from top to bottom in lights and tinsel. However, now that I’m in college, Holiday decorating looks a bit different.

For starters, I don’t have decorations stocked in the attic. I don’t even have an attic. In addition to my lack of supplies, I also lack the funds to purchase them. However, this will not stop me from decorating my room.

I’ve compiled a list of inexpensive, easy decorations. They do take a bit of time and a lot of imagination, but they are the perfect way to decorate for the holidays on a college budget.

No. One Paper Snowflakes

You have likely made these at some point in your life, so I won’t explain them in too much detail. Paper snowflakes are a perfect and inexpensive holiday decoration. All you need is paper and scissors, and voila. Hang them around your room to create the ultimate winter wonderland.

No. Two Gingerbread Men

You know that cardboard box you’ve been meaning to throw out? Don’t! Instead, use the cardboard to create your own gingerbread decorations! With a little creativity and some strong scissors, you’ll have a gingerbread village in no time! Who knows, you and your roommate could create gingerbread versions of each other.

No. Three Popcorn Garlands

I’m not sure about you, but one of the most popular snacks among my friends is popcorn. While delicious, popcorn is good for more than just eating. To create a popcorn garland, all you really need is some string (I’ve even heard of people using floss), a needle, and popcorn. String the popped corn kernels together into a beautiful and festive garland. You really can’t go wrong with this classic decoration.

No matter if you do one, or all three of these crafts, your room is sure to be festive! Even though decorating is small, it can make a big change in the way you view your room. If you’re feeling a little homesick or just want to get into the holiday spirit, try out some of these projects. If you do, your room will be filled with cheer!
