Clever Ways To Drink More Water

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clemson chapter.

We all know that our bodies need water, but unfortunately, many people do not drink as much as they need each day. There is no golden rule of water intake to meet all individual’s needs, but factors like body weight and exercise play a significant role. Take some time to think about what your body needs and whether or not you are meeting those needs. If you need to increase your water intake (as most of us do), check out some of these clever tips.

1. ALWAYS bring a water bottle

Keep a water bottle with you whether you’re going to class or running errands and refill it throughout the day.

2. Keep a schedule

If you love a good plan as much as I do, you may find it helpful to make drinking water part of your routine. For example, plan to drink a full bottle each class period and refill between classes.

3. Drink a full glass of water before and after each meal

This not only helps with hydration, but also helps differentiate between hunger and thirst, which can prevent overeating.

4. Use fruits to enhance taste (and ~aesthetic~)

I love putting oranges or lemon in my water for a change of pace. It makes it yummy, while making me feel oh-so-together!

5. Track your water intake

You can go old school and write down how much you drink on paper or there are tons of apps to choose from. My personal favorite app at the moment is Plant Nanny, where every cup of water you drink waters your plant and you get to watch it grow.
