The Best Bible Verses to Get You Through the Week

During the week we often find ourselves either really busy or stressed, or chilling and loving life. No matter what’s going on in your daily life, it’s important to remember God and what he’s given you. Every day you wake up he’s giving you life, and what you do in your life matters. Sometimes we need a little push to read our bibles because we’re too busy or we forget, so I’ve put together some of the best bible verses to deal with anything going on in your life. This is also just a reminder to always be grateful for what you have, and what he has graciously and mercifully given you.

1. Strength

“I can do all things through him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13, NIV)

“God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1, NIV)

Life is tough for many different reasons, and God is the only one that can get us through it. Every day I bow my head and pray for strength because I know that I’m not strong enough on my own. I need his guidance and strength to get me through every day of my life. Without him, I’m weak. Whether you’re going through a death in the family, or just a tough week at work/school, you’ll always get through it because God is on your side and he’ll always be there, even when you don’t think he will be. God works in mysterious ways and he can give you strength even when you least expect it. Always remember that when you need strength, God is right next to you holding your hand through it all.

2. Stress

“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is- his good, pleasing and perfect will.” (Romans 12:2, NIV)

As a current college student, I understand how stressful the college life can be. I find myself stressed all week long, waiting for the weekend to finally get here. I shouldn’t have to feel this way though. When you have God by your side, you can throw all your stress out the window and lean on him for support. He wants you to look to him in times of stress. Praying to him and talking to him about it is the greatest stress reliever of all. If you ask for help, HE WILL HELP. Like the verse above, you should renew your mind to see that God’s will for you isn’t to be stressed throughout your whole life. His will for everyone is to trust in him and hand over all your stress so that he can help you get through it. Don’t try and get through it on your own because you can’t. You need him, so give it all up to him, and let him guide you through life, stress free.

3. Fun

“So I recommend having fun, because there is nothing better for people in this world than to eat, drink, and enjoy life. That way they will experience some happiness along with all the hard work God gives them under the sun.” (Ecclesiastes 8:15, NIV)

Life is hard, life is stressful, and life goes by really fast. Most of the time all we do is go to school or go to work. Well here it is folks, the bible specifically says to have fun! Life would be boring if all we did was go to school and/or work. We need to have fun sometimes. Your idea of fun may be taking a weekend trip to the beach, going to the gym, or even just having a Netflix and chill kind of night. Whatever it is you do for fun, do it frequently, because God wants you to have fun. Having fun goes hand in hand with the stress bible verses I previously gave you in #3. Taking time to have fun can relieve stress.

4. Forgiveness

“Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.” (Colossians 3:13, NIV)

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the lord,” (Acts 3:19, NIV)

Forgiveness is hard and we all know that. Forgiving someone for doing you wrong is so difficult, but God forgives us every day unconditionally as long as we ask for forgiveness. We’re made in the image of God, and he forgives us, so why shouldn’t we forgive others? Living the Christian life is living life the way God wants you to. This means forgiving others even when you don’t want to. Forgiveness is one of the most important things in a Christian’s daily walk. When someone in your life asks you for forgiveness, think about how God forgives us every day. This will make forgiving others seem like the easiest thing in the world.

5. Faith

“Therefor I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” (Mark 11:24, NIV)

“Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” (Hebrews 11:1, NIV)

It isn’t always easy believing that God is standing next to you every second of the day, especially when you’re going through hard times. When something isn’t going right in our lives we tend to ask God “why?” We pray and talk to him, but we aren’t getting any feedback. I understand it’s hard to have faith sometimes, but soon enough God will reassure you that he is present in your life and that you should always have faith. Having faith tells God that you support any decisions he makes. It shows that you trust him and you’re confident that no matter which direction he takes your life, it will be the right one. God never disappoints, so don’t disappoint him and have faith in him.

6. Friendship

“Do to others as you would have them do to you.” (Luke 6:31, NIV)

“Walk with the wise and become wise, for a companion of fools suffers harm.” (Proverbs 13:20, NIV)

Choosing your friends wisely is really important. The people you hang around can either negatively or positively affect your relationship with God. You don’t want to hang around people who can negatively affect your Christian reputation either. Hanging around with the wrong people can cause you to “suffer harm” as it says in Proverbs 13:20. Also in that verse the bible tells us that being friends with “wise” people can cause you to “become wise” as well. And in Luke 6:31 the bible tells us that acting a certain way towards other causes them to react to us the same way. Always be nice towards others because that’s what God would do. Even if someone is mean to you, turn the other cheek and give him or her the love that God would give. Be kind and choose your friends wisely.

7. Purpose

“When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, ‘I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.’” (John 8:12, NIV)

“Fight the good fight of faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” (1 Timothy 6:12, NIV)

Do you ever wonder why you were put on this Earth in the first place? Is it confusing sometimes when you’re trying to figure out why you are who you are? God does this on purpose. He knows the things we’ll do before they even happen, and he knows why he put us on this Earth even when we don’t. God gives everyone a purpose. Your purpose may be to impact others, or it might be to spread God’s word to everyone so that they can get to know God. Whatever it may be, God will always be by your side, helping you do what he has put you on this Earth to do. It isn’t always clear what your purpose is, but God never makes a mistake.

These bible verses are just a little taste of all the wonderful things the bible and God can teach us. There are so many lessons to be learned, and no matter how little or how much you know/don’t know about the bible, don’t let that discourage you from opening up your bible, or praying on a daily basis. God is the reason we’re alive today and it’s important to worship him daily.
