5 Reasons Why Online Shopping Is So Much Better

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clemson chapter.

So, you’re in college. By now you’ve dipped into the magical world of online shopping and your entire life has changed. Just this week, I went from not spending a dime to buying $100 worth of items online. While on the phone with my bank trying to convince them that my card hadn’t been stolen, I had a lot of time to think about how much better online shopping really is.

1. Not Searching for Parking

I don’t know about you, but just seeing the word “parking” makes my stomach clench. Shopping is riddled with parking. First, you have to get to your car (which isn’t a fun walk on campus). Then, as if you haven’t suffered enough, you have to park at the store. Sure, Target is amazing, but having to find a spot is not amazing. With online shopping, you don’t even have to leave your bed. Which means you don’t even have to think about parking.

2. Delivery!

This is the best part of online shopping. Maybe you can survive Clemson’s parking, but once you’ve parked your car you have to lug your goods across campus. Carrying all of your books from Hendrix to Core Campus isn’t a fun experience, but running to the Post Office and then picking up Starbucks on your way back is ridiculously easy. Plus, if you didn’t bring a car, you don’t have to ask your roommate to drive you around.

3. AMAZON. PRIME.

‘Nuff said. Okay, so maybe not enough said. Amazon Prime is extraordinary. You get discounts on products and super easy shipping. It’s perfect for ordering your books, items you need for your dorm, and browsing for hours. Plus, students get an awesome discount.

4. Selection

The Internet brings the world to your fingertips and the selection is so much better. Want some eye shadow? Instead of running to Ulta in Anderson you can get that pallet you’ve been dreaming about from Morphe delivered. Wanting a new shirt? The world and the Internet is your oyster. You get unique products and often end up spending less than you would in-store, which is pretty great because college students are always broke af. Plus, where else are you going to get awesome graphic tees like this?

5. It’s Fun

No surprise here, online shopping is pretty fun. You don’t end the day with blisters and a bunch of bags in your hand that turn going up stairs into an obstacle course. With the “add to your cart” feature, you have time to think it over before you impulse buy. There are no pushy sales ladies encouraging you to buy that dress you know you won’t really wear and you can easily send the link to your group chat for opinions. But don’t just trust me. Give online shopping a whirl and thank me later.
