Women You Should Know: Rosalind Franklin

Rosalind Franklin wasn’t rightly recognized for her part in the discovery of the DNA’s double helical structure. 

Franklin’s final five years of research at Birkbeck on viruses has been ignored due to the fact Watson and Crick are attributed for the discovery. Franklin discovered that DNA existed in two forms. 

Franklin ascertained the bond of the protein adn genetic contents within a tobacoo mosaic virus. She discovered the molecular reason types of coal can’t be graphitized. 

Franklin was a scientist since grammar school, where she showed careful attention to mathematics and observations. She attended Newnham College in Cambridge, where she concentrated on phsycis and chemistry.

She landed a job during WWII to research coal for the government. Charcoal in gas masks had saved theh lives of thousands to filter out poisonous gases.
