Ice Skating on the Worcester Common Oval

Now that winter is here and temperatures are dropping, remember to enjoy the cold and try ice-skating! We are lucky to have our own outdoor rink, The Worcester Common Oval, that’s just one and a half miles from Clark and costs $2 for admission and $3 for skate rentals.

BirchTree Bread Company

Warm up and enjoy a nice meal of comforting food at BirchTree Bread Company. They offer great soups, incredible bread and live local music. After the meal, head down to Crompton Collective nearby for some great antique shopping.

Worcester Art Museum

Don’t like the outdoors? The Worcester Art Museum (WAM) is free to college students (with your ID). Here’s a bit more about what you can look forward to: “WAM is world-renowned for its 35,000-piece collection of paintings, sculpture, decorative arts, photography, prints, drawings and new media. The works span 5,000 years of art and culture. View paintings by Cassatt, Gauguin, Goya, Monet, Sargent and Whistler; admire floor mosaics from the ancient city of Antioch; see cutting-edge contemporary art; and discover the Museum’s many other treasures. Special exhibitions showcase the masterworks, seldom-seen gems, and important works on loan.”

Sledding Green Hill Park

Green Hill Park is located atop one of Worcester’s seven main hills. It is bordered on the north by I-290, on the south by Route 9 (Belmont Street), on the west by Channing, Uxbridge and Denmar Streets (parallel to Lincoln Street) and to the east by Skyline Drive. Being that the park is located on hill, it makes for a great place to go sledding. Even if there is not much snow right now, if last winter’s weather is any indication, there will still be more to come!

Spend the Day Outside with Clark’s Outing Club

Every weekend the Outing Club explores the beautiful nature Massachusetts has to offer. Last year, some of their snowy fun included cross country skiing, a hike at Rock House Reservation, downhill skiing at Wachusett Mountain and Snow Tubing at Nashoba Valley. Email OutingClub@clarku.edu for more information!

Curl Up with CUFS Inside for a Movie

Each Tuesday and Thursday the Clark University Film Society screens a film in Jefferson 320. Currently, they are working their way through all the Oscar nominated films for this year. Bring some friends, turn it into date night or come solo and relax! Check out their LINK site to see what movies are coming up.

Go Bowling at AMF

A five minute drive or cab ride away from Clark is the AMF bowling alley. They have great deals for college students and you can go bowling for only $6! Check out their website for directions and more information on how to plan a night you and your friends won’t soon forget.

Hike or Ski Mt. Wachusett

Drive or Uber out to Princeton and climb Wachusett Mountain for free. If hiking isn’t your thing, you can check out the website or call for more information about ski or sledding passes and how to take your outdoor experience to new heights! If you go to hike just plan to bring lots of layers or go when the sun is still out. It can get super chilly up there! There’s a great lookout tower with views of Central Mass and spectacular sunsets.
