As an employee that is considered “essential” during this pandemic, I must be extra careful and safe when I am at work.

Here are some of the things that I do:

Wash my hands

Washing my hands as frequently as possible has been super important. When it comes to going to work, I wash my hands before work, after I clock in for my shift, and when I clock out to leave. However, that is just the bare minimum and I do try to wash them as frequently as possible (if necessary).

Carry around a travel-size hand sanitizer

Having a travel-size hand sanitizer is super useful, especially if you can’t get to a sink.

Shower Immediately

When I come home, I shower immediately. I find this to be important because it minimizes the bacteria that are on your clothes from spreading to things around the house.

Avoid sitting down

When I am at work, I try to limit unnecessary contact as much as possible. For me, this means trying not to sit down during breaks, trying to avoid vending machines in the break room, and not holding anything near my face.

Wear gloves

Gloves have been extremely essential at work and I wear them all the time. Not only does wearing gloves provide peace of mind, but it also protects my hands from direct contact with others.
