Things to Do Before Leaving Clark

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clark chapter.

After what felt like a never-ending winter, this semester has somehow managed to fly by. Although we’re all excited to take a break from the classroom and head home to the comfort of our hometowns, leaving school and all your friends for 3 months can be pretty emotional. As a senior, I still remember the end of my freshman year and wondering how I would ever survive a summer away from friends who I considered sisters. Alas, I made it through the summer! But that’s not to say that the past 3 summers without them haven’t been hard. As finals approach and the school year comes to a close, there are a few must-do activities before leaving Clark.

1. One last Annie’s brunch: I should probably take my own advice on this one considering that I only went to Annie’s once this semester, but it’s always a good idea to get your closest friends together for one last Saturday brunch.

2. Closet clear-out: As your packing up, separate some of your items into piles: one for packing, and one for donating. Your closet is bound to have a few items in it that you haven’t worn since August, and if that’s the case then it’s time to part ways with them.

3. One last Thursday: What would Clark be without Beatnik’s and the Blarn? Before heading off to whatever adventure awaits for you this summer, be sure to spend one last night out with all your friends.

4. Sleepover: Whether you live off-campus or in a dorm, throw some blankets and pillows on the floor and invite all your best friends over for a last chance to chat about what happened over the past semester, and even the past year.

5. Thank your professors: This is definitely one of the nicest things you can do for a professor, but it is often over-looked. If there’s a professor or advisor in particular who helped you a lot, be sure to drop a Thank You card in their mailbox before heading back home. They will appreciate it more than you know!
