It’s an ABBA Reunion!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Clark chapter.

Finally, some good! The Swedes you grew up with are back after a 45 year hiatus. It was announced last week that they have recorded two new songs, but will not be touring despite certain rumors. For those of you who don’t know ABBA, they are a Swedish pop group who were famous during the 1970s, known for their hits including Mamma Mia and Dancing Queen

The group was formed in 1972 in Stockholm, and consisted of two couples; Björn Ulvaeus and Agnetha Fältskog, and Benny Andersson and Anni-frid Lyngstad. Together, their intials form the name ABBA.

ABBA came together when Björn and Benny, who were part of two separate bands at the time, met at a crossroads while both on tour. Initially, it was just Björn and Benny who were producing music together, and Anni-frid and Agnetha came on later.

The band stayed together for a solid decade, and decided to stop making music in 1982 soon after the two couples went through divorces. The band’s breakup was initially meant to be only temporary, but they never ended up getting back together.
