This Friday, Clark University’s International Students’ Association presented the 17th annual International Gala 2019: Once Upon a Gala.

This year’s Gala celebrates Clark’s diversity through 24 dance performances from a wide array of countries. From Egypt, to Ecuador, to Ethiopia, to England and from India, to Israel, to Italy, Clark students choreographed extraordinary dances from the countries they have a connection to, which were performed by dancers of all origins. As always, the performances culminated in a flag ceremony.

This year’s theme was empowering women and creating the story of a future that we want to see. A special performance by Clark’s female-identifying a cappela group and a special message of support for Girls Inc., a local organization that focus on the holistic development of girls enriched the dances, many of which carried the added message of women’s empowerment and intersectionality.
