Finn the Bat Dog just wanted to do his job Tuesday.

At the Las Vegas Ballpark this week, it was the grand opening of the Las Vegas Aviators, who played against the Sacramento River Cats.

But instead of cheers, the home-plate umpire was met with boos at one point, when he wouldn’t let the bat dog do his job.

Finn the Bat Dog fetches the bats that are left near home plate.

The umpire however picked up the bat and tossed it toward the first-base dugout. Finn then had to run after it.

Finn has been working home games for the AAA Pacific Coast League team for the past three years.

“He’s much faster than a regular batboy would be,” said Fred Hassen, the owner and trainer of the six-year-old Labrador retriever.

The Aviators, which is the affiliate of the Oakland A’s and were previous with the New York Mets, ended up winning 10-2.
