If you’ve never been to New York, it’s somewhere you should visit. I was born in New York and have gotten to experience some of the best things this state offers, one of them being the food. New York has some of the best food out there. Here are some of my recommendations to check out:
1. The Pizza
There is no pizza in the United States like New York pizza. Pizza is a New York specialty and something every tourist should experience. From the crust-to the cheese-to the sauce, New York pizza is perfection. I would recommend Gino’s, a delicious pizzeria and restaurant located in my hometown Yonkers, with other locations in Bronxville and North White Plains.
2. The Bagels
Another thing that is a New York specialty is bagels. Rockland Bakery in Nanuet has the best bagels I’ve ever had. They are made fresh on the assembly line. There’s plain, cinnamon raisin, sesame, pumpernickel, garlic, egg, poppy, and so many other kinds. Rockland Bakery also has a number of other treats like pies, pastries, cakes, rolls, and breads.
3. The Cheesecake
If you’re a fan of cheesecake, then a trip to Junior’s is a must! There are locations in Brooklyn, Midtown, and Times Square. Junior’s has every kind of cheesecake you can imagine: strawberry, red velvet, chocolate, raspberry swirl, devil’s food, apple crumb, and so much more! There are also cheesecake samplers with multiple flavors.
4. The Chocolate
Chocolate lovers must check out Max Brenner! This place has it all: all kinds of hot chocolate, milkshakes, choctails (yes, that’s a thing!), crepes, sugar waffles, cakes, and even chocolate pizzas! There are also non-chocolate items like burgers, sandwiches, and mac & cheese.
5. The Cupcakes
One of my absolute favorite places in New York is Crumb’s Bake Shop. They have the best cupcakes I’ve ever had. They have regular sized, mini, and jumbo cupcakes. Some of the delicious flavors include: vanilla filled, strawberry filled, red velvet filled, chocolate crumb, confetti, cookies and cream, peanut butter cup, banana split, and Neapolitan. Crumbs also has cakes, cookies, pies, brownies, and quiches.
New York doesn’t just have amazing tourist attractions, but also has amazing food. There is something for everyone. There are so many different restaurants and bakeries in New York that are worth the trip to try! There is no place in the world like New York and once you see it, you’ll believe it!
