Sarah Burgett, better known as Beautypolice101, has been making YouTube videos on a weekly basis since April 2011. So far, she has accumulated a whopping 345,891 subscribers. Pretty impressive I must say. Originally from West Chester, Ohio, the YouTube starlet now attends the University of Cincinnati and I was lucky enough to get an interview.

HCUC (Her Campus Uni. Cincinnati):  What made you want to start making YouTube videos?SB (Sara Burgett): My twin brother was actually making these parody videos in eighth grade and he was constantly watching YouTube videos, so I asked him, “okay, what is this all about?”  He told me “you might like these make-up videos,” and showed me a couple and I actually made my first video that day. I ended up making videos all the time after that, it was so much fun. I found the whole community and it was a really great pastime for me because besides cheerleading, I wasn’t really that involved in school.

HCUC: How would you classify your channel?SB: People call it the “Beauty Community” and every girl is a “Beauty Guru”, so I would say my channel definitely falls into that category. However, it’s also fashion and lifestyle advice, but mainly beauty.

HCUC: Are you looking to make a career out of it?SB: Yeah, actually I have a manager right now and I’m majoring in Communications. I’d really like to double-major in E-Media next year, so broadcasting, and social media. My main goal is to become what my manager is right now, but for other YouTubers. You get to travel with that and become really close with ten to fifteen girls. I think that sounds really cool.

HCUC: Are you big on other social medias?SB: Yeah, I try to do more on Instagram so I have around 59,000 followers on there. It’s hard to have all of your subscribers follow you on Instagram or Twitter because not everyone has every social media, but I always mention it in my videos in order to put myself out there.

HCUC:  Are you going to continue making videos throughout college?SB: Definitely, I’m planning on it. It’s much harder to do it here because you don’t have as much free time. I try to do two a week, but if I only do one I don’t beat myself up about it.

HCUC: Do you ever get stopped in public?SB: Yeah, actually in Kenwood Mall, I don’t know why but whenever I go there I usually get stopped at least once. I don’t go there every week, but when I do go there someone’s usually there. When I’m shopping at target, I always dress up just in case it happens, I always want to take a cute picture.

HCUC: What has been your favorite meet and greet?SB: It’s actually really cool. One time I was in New York City, we were touring the Statue of Liberty and these girls that were in our tour group knew me. We started talking and got each other’s numbers and now we’re pretty good friends.

HCUC: Have you been stopped on campus at all?SB: No, but my roommate has! My roommate’s been in a couple of my videos and she was walking through Siddall one day and this girl called out, “You’re Lexi from YouTube!” She told her she’d love to have lunch with us, which hasn’t happened yet but I would love to though, that’s awesome.

No, you’re awesome Sarah. Completely down to Earth, this sweet girl deserves all the recognition. You keep making videos girl, we’ll keep watching.

If you want to check her out, which I highly recommend you do, you can find her channel at https://www.youtube.com/user/BeautyPolice101 and on Insta @sarahjburgett
