Meghan Simpson: UC Superstar

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cincinnati chapter.

Meghan is an all around superstar on campus! She is able to balance grades, leadership positions within multiple organizations, sleep, a social life, a boyfriend and still have time for Toppers! Her time management and organization is something that everyone should look up to. We were super lucky to catch busy Meghan and talk to her about her involvement on campus.

Name: Meghan SimpsonYear: 3rdMajor: Marketing Major with a PR certificate and Business Spanish certificateCampus Involvement: Kappa Alpha Theta (Chief Marketing Officer); Delta Sigma Pi; SOL-2015, Future Greek Leaders 2013-2014 (I worked in the LAC last semester and work at the Orientation office now-don’t know if that counts) Alpha Lambda DeltaHow hard was it to be a Rho Gamma: For me, the hardest part of being on the Panhellenic side of recruitment was being disaffiliated. I’m incredibly passionate about all things Theta, so having to take a step back, not attend any events, and not wear any Theta related shirts (which is half my wardrobe mind you) was really hard for me. HOWEVER, being able to help the Potential New Members through the process and seeing almost 500 women find a home in our Greek Life community made it all worth it.

Fun fact: I have a split earlobeSomething interesting about yourself: I had ankle surgery my first year at UC and wasn’t allowed to walk for 8 weeks, so I used one of those fun scooters to roll around campus for a semester. Favorite UC memory: My first Bearcat football game at the old Nippert in 2013! Advice to anyone who just went through recruitment: Joining a Panhellenic sorority is a whirlwind experience, from Recruitment weekend, to Bid Day, and even throughout Initiation. My main piece of advice is to put yourself out there, ask questions, go to events and get to know the actives in your chapter. If an active asks you to get coffee, go! They truly want to get to know you and welcome you more into your new home! Be curious, ask questions and learn as much as you can about your chapter and the Greek community. I fully immersed myself in Greek life from the moment I joined, and it’s changed me in more ways than I ever thought imaginable.
