Adding these simple steps to your Sunday can help you reset, recover, and refresh before the new week begins.

The first day of the week is often perceived as a lazy day. On Sundays being a bum is totally acceptable, after all, you’ve got to recover from the previous week. But believe it or not, laying around all day won’t make you feel refreshed. Making the most of my Sundays has been a game changer; I’ve noticed I’m more productive and motivated to start the week ahead. It’s important not to push too hard on a rest day, but doing self-care always leaves me with a sense of accomplishment. So, here’s a few ways you can reset for the new week:

Everything shower

After a long week, nothing feels better than a long shower. Put on your favorite playlist and relax— maybe even use a shower steamer for a truly spa-like experience. Exfoliate, shave, maybe apply a hair mask, and when you’re all done, don’t forget to moisturize with lotion or body oil. My secret to a perfect shower? Repeat positive affirmations and imagine the negative energy being washed down the drain.

Yoga

Yoga is the perfect way to get some movement even when you’re feeling down. It’s important to get engage in physical activity when possible, and yoga is a super relaxing way to do that. Yoga is great because of how accessible it is— it can be done from the comfort of your own home, and you can easily adjust the intensity of your workout. Yoga also has amazing benefits; it boosts your mood, increases flexibility, and reduces stress. There’s no better way to clear your mind and revitalize your body before the new week begins.

All out skincare

If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably forgotten to take your makeup off at least once. Sunday is the ideal day to rejuvenate by going all out with your skincare routine. Take the time to complete all ten steps, indulge in the expensive products you’ve been saving, and apply a face mask. Skincare is a great way to feel refreshed, it can boost your confidence and motivate you to feel your best through the week.

Sleep

Let’s face it; many of us struggle to maintain an ideal sleep schedule. Balancing work, social life, school, and other commitments can make it challenging to prioritize sleep. Often, sleep gets pushed to the back burner. A lack of sleep can make you irritable, cloud your judgement, and make it more difficult to focus. To address this, I’ve set a rule for my Sunday’s to not stay up past 11. This has improved my week tremendously lifting my mood and increasing my productivity.

Plan your week

Before college, my planners were merely desk decor; I never used them for their intended purpose. With fewer responsibilities, it was easy to go through my daily tasks without reminders of what to do. However, now that I’m in college, there’s a lot more going on and less room to mess up. Every Sunday, I use my planner to plan my upcoming week which has made my life so much simpler and saved me from missing many important deadlines and events.

Clean your space

One thing that makes cleaning a lot less daunting is designating a set time to do it. Cleaning doesn’t have to feel like a chore; listening to a podcast, audiobook, or your favorite playlist can make the time go by much quicker. A clean space not only leaves you feeling refreshed, but it can also boost productivity and improve focus. The best part is when you’re finished cleaning, you’ll be left with a space that motivates you to take on the week ahead.

If you feel like the weeks are dragging on and exhaustion has become your norm, it might be time to start implementing some of these habits. Sundays don’t have to be a day of laziness that ultimately leaves you more tired. So, next Sunday try taking a day to yourself to reset, recover, and refresh before the week ahead!
