What We Love About December

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chatham chapter.

There’s something magical about December. This week, five HC Chatham team members reflect on their favorite things about this wonderful month.

“Holiday Ball is my favorite Chatham tradition. Everyone dressed up and danced  to popular songs. It was very fun.”

—Amy Chau, Social Media Director

“I love spending time with family and friends during Christmas time.  December is a great month to bake cookies for neighbors as well.”

–Casey Deer, Business Team Member

“My favorite thing about December is Christmas Eve. My family has a bunch of traditions that we do like eating finger foods, watching It’s A Wonderful Life, receiving one gift each, and then attending mass at midnight.”

—Gretchen Geibel, News/Lifestyle Section Editor

“Being that Chatham is such a wonderful place that represents all ethnicities, religions, races, political affiliations, sexual orientations, etc., I jokingly told my family that we should celebrate Kwanzaa and Hanukkah as well as Christmas. Lo and behold, we ended up buying a kinara and a menorah, and have both on display for the holidays as well as our Christmas tree.”

—Catherine Giles, Sustainability Writer

“Making gingerbread men in the Rea common room with my friends during my first year.”

–Shannon Ward, News/Lifestyle Writer
