Bubble Pi Baking Arts

Go there for: anything from traditional cookies and pastries to moon cakes and bubble tea. It’s a great opportunity to try new tastes with standbys right at hand.
What’s nearby: Bubble Pi is a bit of a walk from campus, so pop into Starbucks for coffee or stop at Eyetique to get your glasses fixed while you’re there.
Dozen Bake Shop
417 S Craig Street, Oakland
3511 Butler Street, Lawrenceville
Go there for: Cupcakes. If you’re up for a bit of a celebration, they’ve got cocktail-inspired flavors: cosmo, margarita and piña colada included. And also cookies. Or go for a full-blown cake. Plus, it’s totally worth it to make it out to Lawrenceville for brunch.
Gluuteny
1923 Murray Avenue, Squirrel Hill
Go there for: a ton of flavor without wheat or dairy. Indulge in muffins, cupcakes and even whoopie pies.
What’s nearby: Giant Eagle—grab some groceries, then stop by Gluuteny for a well-deserved moment of bliss.
Prantl’s Bakery
5525 Walnut Street, Shadyside
Go there for: Anything. Everything they sell is wildly delicious (though they’re particularly well-known for the burnt almond torte). Bonus: the Shadyside bakery is within walking distance of campus (there’s also one in Market Square Downtown), and nearly every product fits perfectly within a college student’s budget.
What’s nearby: Swing by the Coffee Tree for a quick sip to warm you up for a wintry trip back to Chatham.
Sweet Tammy’s
2119 Murray Avenue
Go there for: every mouth-watering morsel you remember from childhood with the added benefit of a Kosher, non-dairy product line. With cupcake flavors from gingerbread to eggnog, it’s a great place to find unique twists on favorite staples.
What’s nearby: Aiello’s Pizza and Mineo’s Pizza (listed nonpartially in alphabetical order). After taking a side in the great pizza battle of Murray Avenue, stop into Sweet Tammy’s to pick up pastries for the next morning.
Vanilla Pastry Studio
6014 Penn Circle Street, East Liberty
Go there for: a scrumptious sweet in an adorable shop. Seriously, it’s what you hope it would be like to live inside a wedding cake, and the treats are just as delectable.
What’s nearby: Paris 66–if you want a fancy anniversary/birthday celebration for two, definitely worth stopping by both.
Waffallonia

Go there for: Warm, thick Liège waffles topped with anything from ice cream to Nutella. It’s possibly the most delightfully decadent way to treat yourself on a chilly morning.
What’s nearby: Get some necessities from Rite-Aid or check out a delicious book from the Squirrel Hill library.
