Spring Break Rules: 6 Items on Our To-Do List

This is a sponsored feature. All opinions are 100% from Her Campus.

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chatham chapter.

The best Spring Break is packed with surprises, but we do have a few priorities during our week off. Thanks to the Her Campus Spring Break Survival Kit, we’ve got the essentials we need to check every item off our list!

1. Learn how to stay safe.

There are basic guidelines: Don’t give out your hotel room number, avoid lonely streets at night and always use the buddy system. But what do you do if a threatening situation escalates? SABRE equips college students with the tools they need for last-resort self-defense. Their Campus Safety Pepper Gel is designed to protect against an assailant. And because it’s free of airborne particles, you don’t have to worry about bystanders being hurt by the pepper solution. SABRE also offers a Personal Alarm. Louder than a concert at CONSOL Energy Center, the alarm ensures that anyone nearby can hear that you need help. Bonus: RAINN (Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network) gets a portion of the proceeds from each alarm sold.

2. Read for fun.

Tolstoy and Dickinson will be on campus when you get back. But for Spring Break, indulge in reads you don’t have to discuss in class (though you’ll probably wish you could!). Need recommendations? Dirty Rush by Taylor Bell takes you inside the world of sororities. Chatham doesn’t have Greek life, so consider this an opportunity to explore a totally different kind of college experience. Another choice: The Intern’s Handbook by Shane Kuhn. Scheduled to hit movie theaters soon with Dave Franco in the lead role, this story follows an intern at a law firm who’s also an undercover assassin.

3. Treat yourself to a post-midterms feast.

There are few things more wonderful after a stressful exam week than grabbing a booth at your favorite restaurant. For many Chatham students, that means a trip to Chipotle for a no-guilt meal. Because of Chipotle’s commitment organic ingredients and Food with Integrity, we’ll happily go for a burrito or tofu Sofrita anytime!

4. Primp for the months ahead.

There’s no question: Once Spring Break is over, our semester goes into overdrive. With weeks of papers, presentations and finals ahead, we like to make our morning routine as easy as possible. A few faves: Completely Bare’s Beauty to Go wax strips make it simple to get smooth skin without a trip to the salon. The strips warm in your palm and are packed with soothing ingredients so that you can wax with “No Heat, No Fuss, and No Mess.”

Another pick: Not Your Mother’s Hair Care Clean Freak Purifying Shampoo and Conditioner. Chatham students hear a ton of presentations on the dangerous ingredients in some personal care products, so it’s a relief to learn that these shower caddy staples are sulfate, paraben and dye free.

Stock up on snacks.

Whether you’re backpacking in the Poconos or just restocking your residence hall room, keeping a stash of snacks wards off a late-night trip to the convenience store. We love Luna Bars. With flavors including Chocolate Dipped Coconut, Lemon Zest and Chocolate Peppermint Stick, they taste like dessert but are packed with good-for-you ingredients.
