Retrospective: The Cuties of Spring 2014

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chatham chapter.

We got to know so many amazing Chatham students in Spring 2014, and we want to celebrate them. Read on for some of our favorite quotes from our most recent Cuties (and check back in next weekend for a new Cutie during finals!).

Indigo Baloch

What was your childhood dream job?

A vampire or a witch.

Ashley Henry

Current Dream Job:

To become a history professor. I would love to be the next Dr. Michelmore,  instead of the Middle East the Far East. But that may be pushing it!

Kasey M. Jones

What is your major, and why did you choose it?

I am a double major in English and Cultural Studies here at Chatham University. I chose English as a major because I love reading and writing, and those were my strongest classes in high school in which I excelled the most. I also love organizing my thoughts and writing in journals and keeping list of everything I do. I decided on Cultural Studies as a second major, because after taking African American Writers with Dr. Wardi I fell in love with learning more about my culture and the great writers, philosophers and artist within the African American community like Toni Morrison, Langston Hughes and Maya Angelou.

Ivy Kuhrman

Which TV character would you want to be your best friend and why?

I would either want to be friends with Ned from Pushing Daisies because we could solve crimes and eat pie with his gang of friends, or I would want to be friends with Rory Gilmore from Gilmore Girls because she was one of my first favorite characters and she, too, would be up for eating pie.

What do you love most about being a Chatham student?

I love that I feel empowered. I am not afraid to share my ideas or speak my opinion. I can be the person that I want to be, because I’ve gained confidence throughout my time here.

Heather Catley

Why did you choose Chatham?

I chose Chatham because I think that it’s Narnia. In the heart of the city, Chatham is a little paradise and that’s one of its most appealing features. It was also convenient that Chatham offered a physician assistant graduate program, which is what I’m interested in.

Caitlyn Schieneman

What is your major, and how did you choose it?

My major is Environmental Science. I know for some people, choosing a major is a difficult decision, but for me, it was an obvious one. Throughout high school, I had a natural aptitude towards science. At the same time, I developed a compassion for nature and humanity in required religion classes. The intersection of science, nature, and wanting to help people led me to choose Environmental Science as a major. I feel that doing environmental research or education will fulfill my desire to share with people the connection I feel towards the environment and community building.

Suppose you can pick any musician or band to perform at your next birthday party. Who would it be and why?

100% the Silversun Pickups! I can get into absolutely anything they have recorded. I was lucky enough to see them twice this Summer with my friend. I can’t even express the amount of talent this band has. The lyrics tell a new story every time through their unique poetics. Every song can evoke a new emotion, which only true talent can produce. You’ll never meet a cooler group of people than the Silversun Pickups.

Megan E. Cooper

You have a friend coming to Pittsburgh for the day, and you can only take them to do one thing. What do you choose?

I would take them on a walk to Phipps so they can experience the jungle inside the city.

 Rachel Morgan

What do you love most about being a Chatham student?

I love so many things about being a Chatham student, from the diversity of the other students, the small, friendly community, and the sense of female empowerment and advocacy which gave me the extra boost I needed to believe in myself and be the confident woman I am today!

Emily Hinson

Hometown and What You Love About It:

Elizabethtown, PA. E-town is in between Hershey and Lancaster. I love the outlet shopping in Lancaster and of course, the chocolate in Hershey!

Jordon Williams

What do you love most about being a Chatham student?

I love that Chatham is dedicated to equality. And not just equality for women, but equality across the board. I am proud to be a part of a community that is so accepting and welcoming to all people.
