Hometown and Your Favorite Thing About It: Allison Park, PA. My favorite thing about my hometown is the amazing teachers who work in the district!

Area of Study and Why You Chose It: Secondary English Education. I love to read and write, and I love school! I’ve always wanted to work in the education field.

Dream Summer Vacation Destination: New Zealand. The environment is beautiful and exotic and it seems like the ultimate adventure land!

Environmental Literature and Film–We read a lot of my childhood favorites, and we take trips to Eden Hall and the zoo!

Gym Ball and Total Body Fitness–A lot of my friends take the class with me, and it’s a fun workout.

What are you most looking forward to this summer? Working as a camp counselor at Chatham’s Music and Arts Day Camp

Childhood Dream Job: An Egyptologist. I wanted to discover ancient Egyptian ruins and artifacts and find mummies! Seriously. 

Current Dream Job: Something in education. I’m currently exploring different careers within the field. I’m flexible and figuring it out.

Mara Flanagan is entering her seventh semester as a Chapter Advisor. After founding the Chatham University Her Campus chapter in November 2011, she served as Campus Correspondent until graduation in 2015. Mara works as a freelance social media consultant in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She interned in incident command software publicity at ADASHI Systems, gamification at Evive Station, iQ Kids Radio in WQED’s Education Department, PR at Markowitz Communications, writing at WQED-FM, and marketing and product development at Bossa Nova Robotics. She loves jazz, filmmaking and circus arts.
