Hometown and What You Love About It: I am from Lenexa, Kansas. I love the open fields and the horizon stretching across as far as the eye can see. 
 
Areas of Study and Why You Chose Them: Cellular and molecular biology have intrigued me ever since I heard about Dolly the sheep, GMOs, and the Human Genome Project.

What is your favorite spot on campus and why? The chapel. It’s very quiet. I nap there.

Why did you choose Chatham? Chatham is like a gem – a diamond in the rough.
 
What do you love most about being a Chatham woman? Not only I am part of the friendliest community, the liberal traditions that go back to the 1860s structures the Chatham woman’s mindset to one day change the world. The depth and breadth of my humanistic education provide the means to span the globe.
 
 

Mara Flanagan is entering her seventh semester as a Chapter Advisor. After founding the Chatham University Her Campus chapter in November 2011, she served as Campus Correspondent until graduation in 2015. Mara works as a freelance social media consultant in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She interned in incident command software publicity at ADASHI Systems, gamification at Evive Station, iQ Kids Radio in WQED’s Education Department, PR at Markowitz Communications, writing at WQED-FM, and marketing and product development at Bossa Nova Robotics. She loves jazz, filmmaking and circus arts.
