Danielle “Cali” Marcano
Year: Sophomore
Hometown and Your Favorite Thing About It: Chatsworth, CA located in the San Fernando Valley. I recently moved to Chatsworth, but I grew up all over the Valley. It’s a great area with lots of interesting history behind it. We have Walt Disney Studios. Jealous?
Areas of Study and Why You Chose Them: Creative Writing Major and Latin American Studies Minor. As a Hispanic woman, I felt I needed to make some sort of connection with my roots. I love writing and I love my heritage. It’s like a match made in heaven!
Favorite Books: Ella Enchanted, Anne of Green Gables, Cirque du Freak series and Animal Farm.
Favorite Movies: The Nightmare Before Christmas, Forrest Gump and Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away.
Favorite TV Shows: Supernatural, Charmed, Animaniacs and Ouran High School Host Club.
Favorite Foods: Quesadillas, Apple Turnovers and Bibimbap.
Favorite Musicians/Bands: Green Day, Nightwish, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Killers, Epica, Krypteria and Megumi Nakajima.
Dream Vacation Spot: Anywhere with classical architecture. I like places with lots of historical sites. I’m hoping to go abroad to Peru sometime next year.
Childhood Dream Job: When I was a kid, I wanted to be a nurse but then I realized I was terrified of blood and decided it would be best not to pursue a career in healthcare (for the sake of not fainting while drawing someone’s blood).
Current Dream Job: I’m really interested in pursuing Cultural Anthropology. I love learning about different cultures and traveling the world to experience it firsthand. If there’s a career like that, I’m game!
What do you love most about being a Chatham woman?
I love being a Chatham woman because I have a lot of opportunities to explore different aspects of my major/minor. I’ve met a lot of great people here and enjoyed involving myself in many organizations such as the All-Faith Gathering.
