Perfect Eyeshadow Palettes for a Broke Girl’s Budget

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapman chapter.

As someone whose makeup collection is ever growing and overflowing, I know how incredibly expensive makeup can be. We’ve all thought about Ulta dumpster diving at one point or another (if you literally start googling “dumpster diving,” the first thing that pops up is “dumpster diving Ulta”). Sometimes, you just have to skip a week of groceries just to buy the new Anastasia palette, right? Not anymore! These are my five favorite palettes, all less than $25 — and all actually worth the money you’re putting into them. These palettes are great quality and a great price.

Retro Love by Bad Habit

This palette is one of the best dupes for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Renaissance Subculture palette. It has twelve soft matte shades and two metallic shadows, just as the Subculture palette does. The Subculture palette is $42, but if you’re looking for a more affordable version, the Retro Love palette is only $10! This palette is perfect for transitioning your summer looks into fall, because it has a great combination of cool and warm toned shadows.

15N Night Master by Morphe

The Morphe Night Master palette is perfect for a Fall night out. Nine of the shadows are creamy mattes that blend together exceptionally. It also contains six metallic shimmer shades — these six shades are perfect for accenting a matte look or adding a bit of glam to your daily eyeshadow. This palette is absolutely stunning; however, it’s a limited-edition holiday palette, so it won’t be available forever! The best part is, the palette is only $15!

Yes, Please by Colourpop Cosmetics

The Yes, Please palette is a recently released palette from Colourpop Cosmetics, and it’s basically an exact dupe for the Natasha Denona Sunset palette. The palette consists of eight mattes and four shimmers. Unlike many eyeshadows, Colourpop’s eyeshadow formula has excellent pigment that is not only visible but looks great on every skin tone. The Natasha Denona ‘Sunset’ palette is $130, but the Yes, Please palette is only $16!

Carli Bybel by BH Cosmetics

The Carli Bybel Deluxe Edition 21 Color Eyeshadow & Highlighter Palette includes 15 shadows and six different highlighters. The shades range from warm to cool tones, so it’s a great palette for those who are just starting out with eye makeup. Something else I really love about the pallette is its packaging! The interior of the palette is a white marble, and it has a great quality mirror. The Carli Bybel palette is only available at Ulta, and it’s only $22!

Fire 8 Color Matte Eyeshadow Palette by Okalan

Despite its somewhat sketchy sounding name, this Okalan palette is almost a perfect dupe for the Lime Crime ‘Venus’ palette. The Venus palette has eight mattes, while the Fire 8 palette has six mattes and two metallic shades. The two palettes are very similar, both in packaging and product. I will admit the Fire 8 packaging leaves a lot to be desired, but it is $26 cheaper. The Venus palette by Lime Crime, is $34 and the Fire 8 palette is currently on sale for $8!!
