Olivia Rodrigo kicked off her third tour, The Unraveled Tour, on Sept. 25 in support of her album You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. She performed the tour’s first show in Hartford, Connecticut, which lasted around 2 hours. The two-hour show consists of around 25 songs and six striking looks, and five costume changes.

She opens the show by singing “Drop Dead,” the album’s lead single. She performs the song while rocking a white babydoll dress and her classic knee-high Dr. Martens. Rodrigo faced controversy earlier this year for the babydoll dresses she’s been wearing since her ” Drop Dead ” music video premiered. She received criticism that she was infantilizing herself by wearing that type of clothing. The singer responded by highlighting how “we really normalize pedophilia in our culture.” Despite the controversy, she stayed true to her style and still chose to wear it on tour.

Rodrigo continues with a simpler look: a graphic white tee paired with micro hot pink shorts. The graphic tee continues a style she has embraced in the past. She adds another pop of pink with checkered pink Vans and white scrunchy socks, giving the look a 70s-inspired feel.

For a change of mood, Rodrigo wears a purple leather mini dress with silver studs along the sleeves, paired with a matching choker and, again, black knee-high boots. The look resembles the edgier style she wore during her last tour, Guts World Tour. She performs “Stupid Song,” “Maggots for Brains,” “Traitor,” “Begged,” and “Cigarette Smoke,” some of the more melancholic songs that perfectly tie in with the outfit choice.

Now, for the showstopper and arguably the most memorable moment of the night, Rodrigo wears a white dress that gradually melts away under the artificial rain onstage, revealing a red leather ensemble underneath. The reveal happens during “The Cure,” specifically after Rodrigo sings: “’Cause baby, I’m unraveled, I’m unraveled, I’m unraveled,” rain bursts out, creating a magical, liberating moment.

She closes the show in her most casual look of the night, which feels like an ode to her chic yet simple personal style. She wears jeans, a white tank top, and iconic black Vans. With her hair still wet from the rain, she nails an effortlessly cool, unbothered look.

I am a first-year Creative Writing major at Chapman University. I have past experience writing for my school newspaper, primarily fiction short stories. Having started my creative writing journey in my first language, Spanish, I have developed a unique, creative, and very personal writing style.

I was born and raised in Mexico City, from an Argentinian mom and a Mexican dad, making my background very diverse. I moved to Houston, TX, months prior to my senior year of high school. I came to the US with the urge to find a place where I could continue developing my writing skills, and I'm excited to keep growing at Chapman University. I am interested in exploring fields like broadcast journalism, screenwriting, and film.

I am deeply passionate and will work tirelessly towards my goals. I thrive in environments where I can collaborate with different people. I am looking forward to internships that will give me experience in the fields I am interested in. I am eager to learn French in hopes of one day being able to write in three languages.
