Dealing with Family During the Holidays

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapman chapter.

It’s the holiday season again, which means celebrating with our lovely families. Although, sometimes, this can be quite a challenge, but don’t worry we can be in this together with a few helpful tips along the way!

1. The first of the family members come to town. Get pumped on the Christmas spirit to ease your stress.

2. Let the rounds of questions begin.

3. When you’re family asks if you have a boyfriend and you say no, but this is really what you’re thinking.

4. Someone asks you a question you finally have a good answer to.

5. Getting stressed? Grab your dog and go for a walk, or just continue to watch this scene of some really cute puppies.

6. You may be arguably just as excited for Christmas morning as the kids in your family.

7. Keep your eye on the prize. No distractions.

8. There are several ways to avoid awkward conflict at the dinner table. This is one. (Proceed with caution: you may have to buy a new table.)

9. Accept your gifts with appreciation. It’s the thought that counts, right?

10. Spread the love.

11. Join in on the craziness of it all because they are who you got your insanity from anyways.

Happy holidays and make the best out of enjoying time with your loved ones!
