The 6 Best Things to Do in the Fall

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapman chapter.

Leaves are falling, crisp air is appearing, and lattes are pumpkin spice-ing– it’s officially fall! Here are six ways to make the most of the coziest season with your friends this year:

  1. Go to a Pumpkin Patch

This one may seem obvious, but finding a really good pumpkin patch versus a simple one can make a huge difference. It’s not hard to find a pumpkin patch with corn mazes, food, cute fall activities, and other festive additions. Google pumpkin patches in your area to find the best place for you and your friends to take cute pictures and bring home festive pumpkins!

2. Watch Scary Movies

This is a classic way to get into the Halloween spirit on a college budget. Grab some gal pals, some cozy blankets, and some festive snacks (try kettle corn, cinnamon apple chips, or candy corn) and pull up your favorite scary movie on Netflix. Or, if you and your friends are feeling extra daring, go see It in theaters and try to keep your eyes on the screen the whole time- it’s hard!!

3. Make Cookies and Hot Chocolate

This might be the most delicious way to celebrate the fall season. Since it’s the season of pumpkin spice everything, pick up some pumpkin spice cookie mix and make it with your friends, or find a recipe and make some cookies from scratch! Accompany your culinary masterpiece with some salted caramel hot chocolate and a night around a warm fire pit.

4. Go Apple Picking

This may be the cheesiest activity on the list, but it definitely calls for some unexpected fun. Dress up in cute sweaters and boots with your friends and find an orchard that will let you pick apples, drink apple cider, and explore nature at its most beautiful time of year!

5. Carve Pumpkins

Pumpkin carving is a classic fall time activity that never seems to get old. Make your own unexpected twist on the classic by carving something unique. Coordinate a carving theme with your friends such as your favorite tv show, movie, activity, or musician. Buy some cute stickers or paint to add an extra touch to your pumpkin pals.

6. Go to a Haunted House

Do this one at your own discretion – there are some pretty creepy haunted houses out there. If you and your friends are looking for a fun night that will get your heart pumping, find a haunted house at your nearest amusement park. Make sure you have someone to grab onto and some shoes that will let you run!!
