1. Serial Podcast

A spinoff of This American Life, Serial Podcast is so intriguing that you’ll forget you’re driving. The 12-episode podcast tells the story of a murder case, poking holes in the original investigation and trial. The story is so gripping – you are guaranteed to miss your exit.

2. Peeking inside of cars

Okay this one is a little creepy, and you should only do this if traffic is moving really slowly. But for those of you interning in LA, you should be doing this. You could be rolling by celebs and not even notice it. So next time, check out who’s in the matted, tinted out, Mercedes Benz. You could be riding along side Kendall Jenner.

3. Throwback songs

Never doubt a well planned out playlist. If you know how long you’ll be on the road for, time out a playlist that contains all the best TBT songs. You’ll reminisce on your awkward middle school days while you’re stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic on the 5.

4. Never doubt a good audiobook

Chances are, one of your favorite celebrities has an autobiography. And, the best part about this is they use their original voice for the audiobook. Who wouldn’t want to hear Amy Poehler or Lena Dunham tell their life stories while sitting in traffic? If that doesn’t float your boat, you can put on the 50 Shades of Grey audiobook and laugh all the way to your destination. Either one works.

5. Put your favorite rap song on repeat

This will allow you to memorize all those tricky lines you mumble over when you hear the song on the radio. So next time when the song comes on at a party, you can show off your skills and end it with an imaginary mic drop.Â
