1. Tribal Prints

Fashion’s heavyweights may be concentrated in the most cosmopolitan of urban areas, but you’d never know it from their Spring 2012 RTW collections. Everyone from Donna Karan to Derek Lam referenced the African plains with graphic prints and bold patterns.
2. Crop Tops

Crop top Tuesdays live on! Midriff revealing collections from Preen and Creatures of the Wind demand a few extra crunches at the gym this winter.
3. Bold Florals
Hawaiian florals at Altuzarra
Wallflowers need not apply. Alexander Wang and Proenza Schouler shunned blushing Liberty prints this spring for punch-packing florals in jungle tones.
4. Sporty Chic
Athletic wear at Rag & Bone
Sporty staples like sweatshirts and stripes got all gussied up at 3.1 Philip Lim and Marc Jacobs this season. Worn with skyscraper stilettos and funky jewelry, the look is preppy cool, not boyish.
5. Pastels

Consider this spring’s shyest trend. Diane von Furstenberg, Wes Gordon and Marc Jacobs all showed pastel shades in their collections–the shy girl’s alternative to the season’s bolder trends.
