Spring Essentials

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapel Hill chapter.

It’s time to celebrate, girls, because spring is finally here! The warmer spring weather invites fresh make-up and fashion trends. There are many events to attend this season, from graduations to weddings.  Make sure you’re not left behind in fall and check out a few of my spring essentials!

Make-Up
Spring is the perfect time to try out a simple beauty routine. A natural look is the best look for any spring occasion. If you want to perfect a natural look then the less make-up, the better.
First up is a great concealer.  I highly recommend Erase Paste by Benefit. This concealer stays true to its name by successfully erasing any and every blemish. It also brightens your complexion while evening out your skin tone.

The next make-up essential is a tinted moisturize with SPF. It’s important to wear SPF to protect your skin from the spring sunshine. A go-to tinted moisturizer of mine is Laura Mercier’s oil free tinted moisturizer with SPF 20. This moisturizer is lightweight and can be worn by all skin types. Finish off this spring look with a touch of mascara and lip-gloss.

Fashion

Forget heels! Wedges are my go-to spring shoes. Wedges can be as dressy or casual as you want them to be, and they go with practically every outfit imaginable.  Plus, they’re a lot easier to walk in than heels.

Looking for the perfect pair of wedges? Try these adorable Nine West wedge sandals.  The color combination is perfect for any spring outfit!

Are you ready for a night out? Instead of reaching for that LBD, grab this season’s equivalent, the LWD! This dress can be worn with wedges, heels or flats to any occasion. The little white dress would look fabulous with the Nine West wedges.

Another fashion trend this season is lace. A touch of lace to any piece can give your outfit a flirty and fun feel. Try this black top with lace detailing in the back from Hallelu, a boutique in Wrightsville Beach, N.C.

An outfit is not complete without the perfect bag. A few years ago I spotted a Kate Spade straw clutch.  I needed that clutch, but I couldn’t convince my mom that I, a 15-year-old student, needed a $300 clutch.  Lucky me, I’ve found a replacement. This bag by Kate Spade screams “spring.”  It doubles as a cross body bag and a clutch. While it is on the pricy side, I think it’s worth the investment.

Need an extra pop to your spring outfit? Try out fresh spring nail polishes to brighten your look. One color that I am swooning over is OPI’s Havana Dreams. This color will give your outfit that extra spring touch.
