Dancing to the hottest hits on the radio as a form of exercise, count me in! Zumba has become an increasingly popular workout among women throughout college campuses. It is even #46 on the UNC Bucket List so be sure to attend at least one class before you graduate! It’s taught everyday of the week so be sure to look at campusrec to find a class that fits into your schedule.
Since Zumba still proves to be one of the most popular workout classes, UNC Campus Recreation has partnered with the Black Student Movement to host the Spring 2012 Zumbathon. The event promotes healthy habits while recognizing Black History Month. Be sure to come out and shake your booty on Thursday, February 9th, from 5:30-7:30 p.m.
The event will consist of four 20-minute Zumba sessions taught by student instructors. Refreshments will be provided in order to keep your energy levels high so you can keep dancing through the night.
Another added bonus of the event is a performance by the Achordants and even a step performance by Phi Beta Sigma fraternity. Dancing, working out, free refreshments and performances by UNC Student Organizations, sounds like a pretty good time to me!
Tickets are $10 and include a Zumbathon t-shirt. The last day to buy tickets for the event is on Wednesday, February 8th, so make sure to get yours by then!
Tickets for the event can be purchased at the SRC Main Office from now until February 8th; only cash and one cards will be accepted.
Tickets will also be sold in the Pit from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. on February 6th, 7th, and 8th. Cash will only be accepted.
*Also, as a side note: All Group Fitness Classes held after 1:00 p.m. will be cancelled on Thursday, February 9th for the Zumbathon.
