With only 1,000 football tickets reserved for students due to COVID-19 restrictions, the odds of winning the ticket lottery and getting into Kenan Stadium are slim. Here are some songs that make me think of cheering for the Tar Heels in person.

“Raise Up” by Petey Pablo

This song is an absolute classic. Petey Pablo tells North Carolina to “raise up,” which is exactly what the fans in Kenan do! When this song starts playing, everyone stands up and starts swinging the football towels over their heads.

“Sandstorm” by Darude

I don’t have much to say about this one, but just play it, and memories from being in Kenan will come flooding in. This EDM track has an incredible build-up that causes a wave of energy to flow over all of the fans.

“Carolina in My Mind” by James Taylor

Don’t play this song unless you want to cry. I’m just kidding, play it anyways. This song makes me miss being around UNC students and being on our gorgeous campus.

“Jump Around” by House of Pain

I can not tell you how many times I have rolled my ankle during this song. I always jump and get bumped into by other students. The pain only lasts for a few seconds because of the immaculate vibes that this absolute banger produces in the stadium.

“Hark the Sound” played by The UNC Marching Tar Heels

Ah, the alma mater. A classic. Win or lose, this song is played at the end of every game. Everyone links up and sings along, and we tell Duke where they can go ;).

It can be frustrating to have to stream the game with spotty internet that makes it freeze up at all the good parts, but hopefully, these songs can bring back a bit of normalcy to game day! Remember to stay safe, wash your hands, and stay in your quarantine bubbles. Go Heels!
