It happens. Whether you are dating someone new and are still getting comfortable with that person or you have been in a long-term relationship, the majority of couples will get stuck in a rut at one point or another. Whatever your situation is, a little creativity and originality combined with an open mind can revive the romance for you and your partner.

So what are some ways you can rev up that “vanilla” sex you have been having?

1. Make the First Move

Nothing is more attractive to a guy than a woman who knows what she wants and goes confidently in the direction to get just that–especially when it comes to sex. It is all about a feeling of being in power–you know, like you have something of value that someone else wants badly and simply cannot go without.

Men give us that feeling of power all the time when we see how horny they are or how much they want to have sex with us right at that second. It only makes sense that we should reciprocate that feeling to our guys every now and then!

What’s another way to get your message across? Texting. A simple, “I want you right now ;),” or “I need you the second I see you” will likely give him the hint that you are on the prowl and that only he can satisfy you.

2. Bondage & Domination

Although this suggestion is not for the faint of heart, it is much less of an intimidating option than it is talked up to be. Bondage and domination usually involve a submissive partner and a dominant partner, determined by each of their preferences. We don’t suggest being harmful towards your partner ever, but talking about what each of you like will make this enjoyable. How intimidating are fuzzy hand cuffs, really?

3.
Vamp Up Your Bedroom Attire

This not only shows your guy that you are consciously trying to enhance his sexual experience, but also that you care about and respect yourself.

Not that it is a bad thing to just wear a t-shirt and boxers occasionally, but men are very visual creatures – so if you want to create a romantic atmosphere, use this to your advantage! Some great places to get all sorts of lingerie are: Frederick’s of Hollywood (online), Victoria’s Secret, Priscilla’s (Durham), Cherry Pie (Chapel Hill), and even Target if you look around the bra/panties section.

4. Give him a show
A Strip tease, a lap dance–be creative. Again, guys are
so visually stimulated, it is really important to keep that in mind. Buy some new lingerie with a little sparkle and bling to further his desire, and be sure that if you are going to be using music that it will set the mood!

You can have a lot of fun with this option because, like a new outfit, it is another chance for you to channel a positive self-image of yourself and outwardly and creatively express that to your guy–what could be more genuine?

5. Be Yourself

This will be the easiest option of all if you are trying to better connect with your guy in bed. You may not be comfortable doing a lot of the things mentioned in the article, and that’s perfectly acceptable and normal. If you are with the right guy, you will just know how much you want to share yourself sexually, and he will respect your level of comfort. If not, then he may not be the right guy for you, in which case you can rest assured–because there will be another guy out there who will feel lucky to just have your company!
