Politicking in the Pit: Carolina’s 2012 Elections

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapel Hill chapter.

It’s that time of the year again. No, I’m not talking about Valentine’s Day or “Beat Duke” week. It’s the time of year when Carolina students become politically charged! It’s voting season. Aside from the historical 2012 presidential election, which is quickly approaching, UNC Student Body President and Senior Class Co-Presidents elections are right around the corner. And, in hopes of getting the majority of Carolina’s votes, these candidates took their campaigns to the Pit! Here’s a glimpse of some of Carolina’s candidates in action.

Nora Chan and Tim Palmer are close friends running for Senior Class Co-Presidents on the same campaign. Their elaborate campaign signs are sure to catch the attention of plenty of students.

Will Leimenstoll is an environmental studies and geography major. This junior has an environmentally friendly campaign and plans to lessen UNC’s carbon footprint.

Adam Jutha, an international student, and Sarah Kraminer, a native Carolinian, have been companions since freshman year and share the goal of uniting the Class of 2013, both within the last year of college and post-graduation.

Candidates running for Student Body President and Senior Class Co-Presidents mingle with their peers in the Pit. It’s campaigning at its best!

Students are also campaigning to bring awareness about the 2012 presidential election. Here’s a student promoting voter registration.
