Meet the Team: Ellie Baker

Hey, everyone! As the editor-in-chief of Her Campus at Chapel Hill, I'm loving this new series in which our readers (you!) get to meet our team. This week, you're meeting Ellie Baker, a long-time writer of Her Campus at Chapel Hill!  You've probably read her articles in the past, but if not, check her out! Ellie is a junior at UNC-CH and hails from our state capital! She's been double majoring in Communications, with a concentration in Film and Media Production, and English, with a minor in Writing for the Screen and Stage (wow).  You've been reading her articles for a while now, but meet the person behind the screen!

Why did Her Campus appeal to you?

I love the idea of a "girl's space" magazine, where I can write and read relatable content, as a young woman in college. That, and the other girls on the team were so nice - it was an awesome community in which I really enjoy being a part.

What is your dream job/career path?

Ultimately, I would love to be a screenwriter, making biopics about all my favorite history darlings or being a showrunner for some kind of long-term period piece. (Realistically, I will be very happy, if I end up being able to support myself in Hollywood doing any kind of creative work.)

What's something that everyone should know about you?

I absolutely love thunderstorms and lighthouses.

You only have one birthday present. What do you want? (not money!)

High-waisted pants, please - any color or style.

What are three movies that describe your life?

Dead Poet's Society, Moulin Rouge, The Ghost and Mrs. Miniver

What is your perfect day like?

Lots of time outside with plenty of sunshine, probably walking around with friends to thrift shops, farmer's markets and bluegrass concerts.

What are your hobbies?

Filmmaking (that's honestly the only one these days, omg). Sometimes I like to paint too.

What is your weirdest talent?

I can mirror-write in cursive!

What are you most excited to do with Her Campus this year?

Keep writing articles! :)
