You run out of the lecture hall after taking your final midterm, flailing and praising the heavens that you made it through the week alive.  Whether it was all the studying, the lack of sleep, or laziness about buying a calendar, there is one event that has slipped your mind: Halloween.  And it’s tomorrow. You now have less than 24 hours to find a costume—and preferably one that doesn’t make you just another cat, bunny, tiger, or any other animal in the zoo.
1) Go colorful this year and try out a crayon costume. Â These have been popping up everywhere and not just on little toddlers anymore. Â All you need is a tank dress (or even a long sleeved dress since it can get kinda chilly) and a few iron on letters to spell Crayola down the side. Â And that party hat you saved, strap it on as the tip of the crayon. Â The best part? You get all the freedom to choose your best shade of Pelican pink or Mac and Cheese yellow.
2)      If you’re looking to keep up with the latest trend then you have to take a peek into the past.  Grab your denim button down and some high waisted jeans and turn yourself into one of the most iconic women in American history, Rosie the Riveter.  With bold, winged eyeliner and a sexy red lip, this costume screams retro.  The good news is, when you only have a little time left after spending so long on perfecting your red hot makeup, all you have to do is throw you hair up and tie it in a bandana.  It’s as simple as that.  Plus, when else will you get to wear denim on denim?
3)      Those old moccasins in the back of your closet are ready to be put to use again with this next Halloween costume, a Native American Indian. Even if you ditched the fringe boots alongside your high school years, any pair of winter riding boots will do.  Add your fave pair to a cute brown dress and you’re already halfway there.  At this point your costume probably looks like you got dressed in the dark and happened to wear all brown, but don’t worry, there’s nothing a feather and a headband can’t solve.  Channel your inner hippie and wear your headband around your forehead (it’ll look twice as good if it’s beaded) and slip in a feather.  Finally, add some jewelry.  Remember all the bracelets you made when you were little? The ones with the plastic beads, the shells, and the string?  Well it’s time to pile them on again; not just one or two…all of them.
4) If there’s one thing that no one can resist, it’s girl scout cookies. So why not be the one selling them?  Whether you were a Brownie or never found yourself selling cookies outside Walmart, anyone can pretend to be a Girl Scout for just one night.  Slip on your collared shirt and pleated skirt for starters and top it off with some knee socks and pigtail braids.  But don’t forget the absolute, most important item of all: the sash.  This is where you can do you.  Glue some fake badges to a thick piece of green ribbon, or get creative and write on it with puff paint and glitter.  It’s a guarantee that wearing this costume you’ll feel like one happy camper all night.
5) No one wants to blend in with the crowd, and you definitely won’t with a Where’s Waldo tacky, red and white striped shirt.  Possibly one of the favorites this year, the character is one of the easiest costumes to throw on when you’re on the run.  Just make sure you have your best striped shirt, blue skirt, and big circle glasses.  Better yet, add some fire engine red lipstick and a cute little hat to ensure that you aren’t overlooked.  And if you’re not one to go solo with your costume, grab your guy and head out together in this whimsical yet sexy cartoon costume.
