Her Campus UNC and CEO4Teens Save the World Tonight Date Auction Wrap-up

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Chapel Hill chapter.

Her Campus UNC’s Save the World Tonight Date Auction to benefit CEO4Teens was held on March 20th, 2014. Hosted by our staff at R&R Grill on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill, the event raised money for scholarships to send students in Indonesia to college. We had a blast working together to promote the event on our Twitter and Facebook pages beforehand and even more fun seeing our efforts come to fruition to benefit such a great cause! It truly was a team effort.

Prior to the event, we drummed up excitement by putting out teasers on our social media outlets to generate interest for our dates. Ten students from all areas of UNC campus life volunteered their time to come out and be raffled off on a date with one lucky winner. Ranging from representatives of the Greek Community and UNC Student Government to music lovers and environmentalists, we were so proud and thankful to have all of these individuals representing our organization’s cause.

Thanks to HC UNC staff writer Paige Hopkins, the raffle entrance was colorfully decorated with the date’s pictures and bios so that the patrons could easily place their raffle bids prior to entering the event.

Our ten fantastic date contestants were Andrea Iammattea (Sr.), Alison Lane (Sr.), Dylane Davis (Jr.), Michael Hardison (Sr.), Ross Masters (Sr.) David Marsh (Soph.), Tricia Cleppe (Sr.), Mitchell Ford (Sr.), Natasha Babchak (Sr.), and one of our very own Her Campus UNC staff writers, freshman Karishma Patel. Two of our date candidates ended up winning one another in the date raffle, which was a hilarious twist of events.

Ross Masters, Greek Life Representative, and Tricia Cleppe, UNC School of Journalism and Mass Communications Representative, successfully bid to win one another!

CEO4Teens was founded by one of UNC’s very own alumni, Kenny Haisfield, and we worked closely with the organization’s UNC representative, Paige Sferrazza, to help make the event a success. We strongly suggest that you take an interest in the organization and see what great things it has been able to accomplish through fundraising events like our own. You can read blogs on their webpage, http://www.ceo4teens.com/blog.html and stay updated through their Twitter and Facebook accounts.

We would also like to thank the Chapel Hill area restaurants that kindly provided gift certificates for our dates. Some of our local favorites including Mellow Mushroom, The Loop, Italian Pizza III, Bailey’s Pub and Grille, and Mediterranean Deli were kind enough to support the cause! In addition, we were able to raffle off a $50 gift certificate to Lilly Pulitzer and a $150 value weekend rental camping gear package from Adventure Outfitters. So much support and work went into putting on this event and we could not be more thankful for all involved. And last but not least, a massive thank you to HC UNC staff member Mikala Whitaker for being on the scene to photograph the event.
